Cult Gaia's Menswear Debut: A Fusion of Heritage and Modernity
Cult Gaia, the fashion brand known for its unique and eclectic designs, made a bold statement with its Fall 2026 collection, marking a significant milestone: its first foray into menswear. This move not only showcased the brand's versatility but also its commitment to pushing boundaries.
A Tailored Approach
Designer Jasmin Larian Hekmat revealed her inspiration behind the men's collection, drawing from her own cultural heritage. She said, "We did a lot of tailored suiting, and I infused some of our signature elements into the men's line. The calla lily, a symbol of our brand, is a prominent feature, and I wanted to explore new ways to present our signature style."
The collection featured rich jewel tones and plissé fabrics, a nod to Hekmat's Iranian roots and her childhood memories of witnessing the ceremonial dressing of women in her family. She explained, "This collection is deeply personal. It's inspired by my heritage, and I wanted to incorporate the elegance and ceremony I witnessed in my upbringing. We achieved a stunning copper patina effect, resembling tile, and every piece is hand-painted with exquisite beading."
Simplistic Elegance with Statement Pieces
The men's collection offered a more understated aesthetic compared to the women's line, with a focus on suiting. However, it wasn't without its bold moments. One standout piece was an embroidered suit jacket adorned with floral embellishments, adding a touch of whimsy. Another eye-catching item was a shaggy chocolate brown fur coat, a daring choice that showcased Hekmat's willingness to experiment.
Hekmat expressed her satisfaction with the collection's approach to menswear, stating, "I believed we could create something exceptional in terms of fabric choices and detailing. It was a challenge to strike a balance between simplicity and intentional design. We've always seen men in our store who want to wear our clothes, and I anticipate that women will also be drawn to the men's collection, as evidenced by their presence on the runway."
