The Ducks prospects couldn't recover from a tough second period in a 4-1 defeat to the Kings before a sellout crowd in the final game of the Golden State Rookie Faceoff presented by Arrowhead Water.
Similar to Friday night's game vs. the Sharks, this one featured plenty of physical play and a couple of scraps that delighted the energetic crowd inside 2,500-seat FivePoint Arena inside Great Park Ice in Irvine.
Kenny Connors was credited with a pair of goals in under a minute in the second period to put the Kings in front 3-0 after teammate Koehn Ziemmer opened the scoring early in the period. One of the goals credited to Connors was an own goal scored into the Ducks net by goalie Tomas Suchanek midway through the second.
The Ducks bounced back when Tim Washe deflected in a Nico Myatovic one-timer just under two minutes into the third. That was ultimately all the young Ducks would put on the board despite 36 shots on Kings goalie Carter George.

Suchanek played the first two periods in net for the Ducks and gave up three goals. Michael McIvor relieved him to start the third and stopped all seven shots he faced. Connors tallied an empty-netter with 48 seconds left to make it 4-1 Kings.
The Kings were defeated 8-6 yesterday by the same Sharks team that took down the Ducks 6-3 in the tournament's opening game Friday night. Washe, signed by the Ducks as a free agent last April after he captained Western Michigan University\ to their first national championship, also had a goal in that game.
The Ducks officially open training camp Thursday and have their first preseason game on September 21 vs. LA at Toyota Arena in Ontario.
